Water Temp: 82 Degrees
Water clarity: 3 feet
Lake water level: 150 feet from crest
Bureau of Reclamation is dropping the lake level by 3/4 to 1 foot a day. Lots of new hazards are popping up daily and its very easy to run up on a hazard without knowing it. Please be very careful while on the water and use extreme caution at all times.
With the high water temps and drastically dropping lake levels, many anglers have been finding it tough to wrangle in a few fish. I am concentrating on structure 15 to 30 feet deep to catch numbers of fish. Lately we are starting our mornings throwing JB Customs, Super Spooks, Vixens, Whopper Ploppers and Rovers. You can catch a lot of fish fast throwing those from 5 am to 8 am and then the bite gets tougher and tougher as the sun climbs higher and gets hotter. Once the sun is up I suggest picking up a jig, a Senko #330, a 6 inch Margarita Mutilator, a Hula grub or a PB and J ned rig. These all have been working well. With these techniques I am targeting steeper banks with cover on them. The fish are not schooled up in similar size right now. The big ones are mixed in with the smaller ones. Make sure to cover water. You are looking for the aggressive ones. You dont have time to convince them. Hope this info helps you out on your next trip out fishing
