Doug Cheatham Sr. and Gale Breckinridge weigh in over 28 pounds to dominate Wappapello Bass Circuit
92 boats showed up for the 4th Wappapello Bass Circuit event held out of Sundowner Marina, The Angler’s were greeted by a stiff breeze and mixed reports of some Angler’s on fish and others struggling to find a bite with the bass deep into the summer transition.
I had found some good fish during the week and had confidence in at least getting a decent limit. We pulled up to our first spot and tried everything that had worked a few days earlier to no avail. The Bass wouldn’t eat for us. After a couple hours with nothing to show for it, it was time to switch gears. We made the decision to run way up river to an area called Panthers Den, that my partner David Ladyman had caught some fish on the previous week. After another couple hours we had 1 fish in the livewell, with a 2:00O’clock weigh in, we were quickly running out of time.
Deciding to run and gun some deeper water ledges we finally found a few decent fish. Throwing jigs at deep stumps and lay downs we finally had a pattern that was working but didn’t have the time to work it thoroughly.
We came to the scales with only 4 fish, but they weighed in at 17.73 lbs and was good enough for 6th place.
The winners were the Dynamic Duo of Gale Breckinridge and Doug Cheatham Sr.
These guys are always in the running and absolute hammers on Lake Wappapello. They weighed in an incredible 28.82 pounds of Wappapello Largemouth Bass to run away from the rest of the field by over 6 pounds.
Coming in 2nd were the team of Scott and Isabel with 22.05 lbs
In 3rd was the team of Bryan and Brent House with 19.03 lbs.
Thanks to the Staff of the Wappapello Bass Circut for putting on another well ran event.
