Quikstrike Anchor System by Ryan Hall

As summer is winding down I look back to some of the fun I had this year on the water. I reflect on what I have learned while on the water, the new water I have explored, new techniques, refining old techniques and some of the new tools I have at my disposal. One of my new tools sticks out way above the rest and that would be my Quikstrike Anchor System.

For those of you who have not heard of Quikstrike Anchor it is a relatively new company who produces a shallow water anchoring system at a much more affordable cost. Their product is 100% made in the U.S.A. and it is of extremely high quality. In short form the Quikstrike system is an industrial grade fiberglass pole that manually slides up and down through a marine grade aluminum holster that can attach to nearly any part of your boat. I chose to place 1 one the bow and 2 on the transom.

The holster is very versatile and can be mounted at any angle in a 45 degree span. I chose to set all of mine at a standard 90 degree angle so all of my anchors push straight down into the lake bottom. The hoslter adjusts to provide a good set in to any type of terrain. You can even set it parallel to the direction of the boat to sink the poles into steep bank like bluff walls similar to what we have in our reservoirs.

The fiberglass rods come in 2 lengths an 8′ length and a 4′ length. Most importantly these rods are easily adapted together to create a 12′ rod. I keep my 2 rods adapted at all times for quick anchoring. On the business end of the anchor is a hand crafted pointed tip that is made of marine grade aluminum and easily penetrates and style of lake or river bottom. It is very light and extremely tough.

I have found many situations where my Quikstrike anchors have come in useful. One of my primary uses is sight fishing. Being able to quietly sit near a bed and not have worry about spooking a fish with the trolling motor is vital to your sucess in being able to get a sight fish to react quickly. I also use my anchor frequently when the wind is blowing. I like to use mine when going down a bank after I catch a fish or need to re-tie I can simply drop the anchor(s) allowing me to not get blown down lake or down river. In general, I use my Quikstrike anchors whenever I am fishing in shallow water. Recently I was fishing a tournament on a predominantly spotted bass lake where I was targeting some very shallow and very spooky largemouth. I was able to sneak into the back of a cove with flooded timber and drop the anchors and fan cast the area 360 degrees. My partner and I were able to catch our limit within 30 minutes and make some key culls which helped us lock down a 4th place finish.

Aside from basic shallow water anchoring I am also able to use my Quikstrike Anchor rod as a push pole. This plays a key role for me when I am around spawning fish and when fishing shallow flats. Other than fishing uses I can see a huge benefit for waterfowl hunters. The Quikstrike anchoring system is simple and strong and the rods stow away nicely when running. This allows hunters the ability to maneuver through overhanging tree limbs without getting hung up or knocked around.
