February 18 2023 the American Bass Association (A.B.A) had their first event of the 2023 Motherlode Region on Lake Don Pedro. RB Bass Outdoors angler Alex Niapas and his partner Jason Remmers topped the field of anglers with a weight of 13.32 pounds for their 5 fish limit. Here is what Alex had to say about how their day went during their tournament,
“We started out throwing big baits in the lower lake looking for a big bite for two hours with no success, mid morning we decided to move to the mid lake area and throw jigs. Our first bite Jason caught a two plus pound spot in 35 feet of water. We couldn’t duplicate that bite the next hour. We kept seeing fish suspended over 30 to 40 feet of water, that’s when I started throwing 3.3 keitech on 1/4 ounce head and started catching fish instantly, filled our limit out by noon. Then it bite got tuff and bounced around trying to find something else. At 2:30 I caught a 3lb largemouth on a 3/8 brown jig in 35 ft water that culled a 1.5 pounder that gave us 13.32 give us enough to win.”
