Day 1:
Day one was shaping up to be a decent day. The winds were not supposed to be that bad and
the rain held off more than I expected. I was the last boat from the blast off and was lucky
enough nobody made it to my first spot before me. I caught most of my fish off of the same point
for both days of the tourney. I started off the day throwing a half ounce jig and had some quick
bites with it so I stayed with it all morning. The wind made the set up a little tough but I made it
work as best as possible. I caught a limit within two hours working the same point. The bite
slowed a little as the weather got a little worse so I made a run across the lake to my second
spot. I was only able to catch one fish for a cull and the bite died. From about 10-2 I didn’t even
get a single bite. I went back to my starting spot and managed to make two to three small culls
and the bite died again until I weighed in. I came in with 15.33 lbs and the day one lead for day
one.
Day 2:
Day two came around and the weather was looking much worse. Winds picked up and the rain
was supposed to roll in heavy early morning. I got boat number one for blast off so I was able to
utilize the early morning bite as best as I could. I went back to my first spot again and started
the day with the jig again. I was able to catch two fish super quick giving me some confidence
until the bite died about an hour in. I decided to run to a new spot and try and throw a couple
different baits but I couldn’t even manage to get a bite, so I ran back out to the second spot from
the day before. The wind was blowing so hard on the spot that I couldn’t set up how I wanted to,
which made getting a bite even more difficult. I ran back towards the river to get out of the wind
and fished a few new spots I have never touched. After about an hour I caught a 3.5 lb’er and a
3.7 lb’er on the jig and was able to cull out two small fish which helped a ton. I ran back to my
first spot to finish the day where I made a few last second culls. I came in to end the day with
14.33. I finished the tournament with a two day total of 30.21 lbs for 1st place.

Due to the weather, I had to do a lot of running around and trying new things.
