My family and I have had the pleasure of owning a travel trailer for about a year now. One of our favorite places to go that’s not too far from home is Collins Lake.
If you’re looking for a relaxing place only about an hour and a half from Sacramento you should consider Collins Lake. They have sites from full hook ups to tent and group sites. If you don’t want to go that route they have a few cabins that you can rent also.
The campground is usually pretty busy and can get a little loud, but it usually quiets down about 9-10 and is really enjoyable even when it is a little loud.
Lake level is pretty good this year so far and if you have a lakeside site it’s a short walk to the water and water temperatures were between 50 to 60 degrees depending on where you were at on the lake and time of day.
Lots of people were catching trout from the bank and on boats. We tried our luck with a little bass fishing and found a tough bite. Water clarity was 8-10” on most of the lake. A little cleaner towards the dam then it is up the creek arm.
They have a little store for most of your last minute needs you may have forgotten. They serve ice cream and have a decent amount of flavors. Stock a fair amount of tackle in case you forget that certain bait.
Great family environment and good atmosphere.
