Here is RB Bass Outdoors angler Sean Holifield with a nice video from earlier in the month. This was a practice for the Lake Oroville Yak-A-Bass tournament. Here is what Sean had to say about his day as well as video footage of how his practice went.
“Weather was calm and partly cloudy with temps starting off in the 40’s. Water temp was 49-50 degrees Decided to check out a new ramp for me so I launched at Lime Saddle around 7:30am and met up with my buddies Donald Bailey and Wayne Montano. I started throwing a A-rig, spinner, deep crank for about an hour without any luck. Got a call from Donnie and he mentioned he just picked one up on the Float N’ Fly so I grabbed my set up and started throwing it at the deep cliff edges pretty much 1-2ft off the ledge and pulling it slightly off to clear my 8-10ft leader. Using a Spro 1/8 hair jig in a shad color and within 3-5 cast I was hooked up I made my way to the bridge to fish the piers but without much luck so I turned back to the bank and continued to have success with the float N’ fly. At the end of the day I ended up with 7 fish and 6 being keepers. Drop shot did play for one of them in 25-30ft of water with a Xzone Hot Shot Minnow in the electric shad color. Great day of enjoying nature and catching fish! Thanks for watching”
This time of year is still a little cold and the Float N Fly is definitely a technique that can put some fish in the boat. Check out Sean’s video and hope it helps you to catch some fish and have a great day on the water.
