RB Bass Outdoors angler Shaun Leytem fished the Yak-A-Bass tournament on Folsom Lake and was fortunate enough to put together a good enough bag to place 7th out of 126 anglers. Here is what Shaun had to say about how his tournament went
“Finished in 7th place out of 126 anglers at the #2 stop for Yak-a-Bass tournament trail at Folsom Lake. Crazy conditions, rain, hail, wind and flashes of lightning and thunder. Pulled up to my first spot and all the fished have moved. Went to my second spot, same thing. So…. Freestyle Fishing time! Started to hit coves and pockets up the South Fork throwing a Frenzy Baits Nail with a Roboworm and started to catch some fish. Mixed it up a little with a wacky rigged dropshot setup on my Dobyn’s Rods Champion DC 701 SF.
The key was a super light dropshot weight. Saw the fish on the LiveScope, and casted to them. For the last two hours decided to brave the weather and venture out to the peninsula. Went to a rocky point and caught fish in 10’ and less water. The bite definitely turned on the last few hours of the tournament. Caught a 17.75” inch spotted bass in the last two minutes to help move me up to 7th place. Super fun tournament. Over 60 limits were caught and the Spring bite appears to be on! Congratulations to the winners. Looking forward to the next one at Don Pedro. Thank you to all my family and friends for all the support.” Shaun Leytem
Congratulations to RB Bass Outdoors Angler Shaun Leytem and good luck at the next event.
