Going fishing? Need a great fishing rod? Hmmmm….Which Rod company to get yours from? Well I use Dobyns Rods for several reasons. I have severe arthritis in my thumb joints, especially at the base joints, and I have had 7 shoulder surgeries. So it’s hard to continually use the thumb working the reel when punching matts, much less hold a rod that is heavy. Back in my day, a heavy rod meant a better hook set, but at the cost if your thumbs’, wrist and shoulders. Over the years I have tried several bait casting rods, but most didn’t give me the lightness or durability that the Dobyns does. My tournament partner, at the time, let me try his and I was “hooked”.
The rod felt comfortable in my hand, and the lightness of it gave my thumb joint a very much needed relief of the pain, and the backbone I wanted for heavy hook sets far exceeded anything I used. These rods are by far my favorites to use. I also have a few Dobyns spinning rods, which I use for finesse fishing, and they have the same feel, lightness and backbone of the bait casters. If you are experiencing hand arthritis, or have shoulder problems I highly recommend a Dobyns Rod. Great company and excellent customer service.
