Hi RBBass fans! RBBass Angler Mike Rogers here. A question was asked of me recently, why did I want to be part of RBBass? The reason I wanted to join RBBass is that I saw this group as being an elite formation of great anglers that worked as a team, to provide a bass fishing resource and information service to other anglers, of all ages. I’ve been part of a team, of one sort or another my whole life, starting in little league, then Senior League, the Babe Ruth League, as well as Pop Warner Football, Jr. High and High School Baseball, High School Football earning 4 scholarships. I even played for a Semi Pro Football Team, the Sacramento Statesman’s, back in the 70’s…short venture but still a team. You all know I was a Marine, the ultimate in Team Playing. I love being part of a team, that runs like a well oiled machine and that does good for others. RBBass does that by being a bass resource fishing site for others and you all are an interictal part on that team, with one expertise or another. I’ve learned a ton from all of you, and I hope I’ve helped other anglers grow as well, like teaching one of us patience lol.
Unfortunately, I’m too old, at almost 70, to climb that ladder that Austin climbed, and that several of you can and should climb, while young enough. However, with that said, RBBass has given me the team I have been missing since the Corp and an elite forum with which to help, encourage, foster and guide our youth into and through this passion we all have. It’s one reason I enjoy Cast for Kids, extending an opportunity to those that can’t! Or boating for high school teams, what better way to share our passion for this sport. I particularly like fishing charity Tournaments, knowing that proceeds go to a great cause. During the course of a year, I have literally handed out almost a 1,000 business cards and explained who we are and what we are about. I have had many of those anglers, that I don’t even know….know me, through RB Bass, and those anglers have voiced their appreciation for what we do! This means a lot for me!
The fun part of part of all this, is that this whole team is full of great personalities. Everyone here can joke with each and everyone of us, and not one gets offended or pissed off…no drama! Each is willing and able to give advice on an expertise he may have, like Josh on swimbaits, when I don’t have a clue, just not a swimbait guy, but he helps. Anyone one of us could break down on the road or water and one of us RB boys will come to the rescue. Heck we even do it for others, BBT Berryessa Dustin Keane and Rich Mendoza come to mind.
I know everyone has a busy with life, and we all can’t do everything that might be asked of us, but we, as a team, always pull through. There is always some of us that can step up to help and pick up any slack, if others can’t. If you haven’t made an RBBass get together, get there, it’s a freaking blast. Good food, BBQ, thank you Ron, and awesome whiskey, thank you ME and I have had a ball fishing our little Tournaments! I love my “participation medal” at Clear Lake, and the bull frog in my livewell.
In my humble opinion, You can’t find a better group of anglers. Here is my pearl of wisdom to take to heart! It will make you a better person.
