Now that you have some venison in the freezer and want some delicious recipes. Here’s one of my favorite winter time recipes for comfort food. This is my go to crockpot venison stew. It goes great with homemade bread if you’re up to the task of both. Imagine walking into the house and smelling both freshly baked bread and a hearty stew!
Crockpot Venison Stew:
2 lbs of stew meat
1/4 cup of flour
1 tsp salt
1 tsp black pepper
1 1/2 cups of beef stock
1 tsp paprika
1 tbsp of Worcestershire sauce
1 bay leaf
6 cloves of garlic crushed ( or 1.5 tsp garlic powder)
1/2-1 onion chopped depending on size (can also use onion powder if desired)
1 celery stalk sliced
4 carrots sliced
3 or so potatoes cubed again depending on size
1. Combine flour, salt and pepper
2. Coat meat with flour mixture
3. Slightly brown meat in olive oil
4. Put meat and all other ingredients into crockpot
5. Cook 4-6 hours on high or 10-12 hours on low. I stir occasionally and will adjust with more beef stock if too thick.
Note: This recipe will also work good with beef as well.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
